Rates
Daily rates are based on 24 hour periods. Extra hours are charged at one third of the daily rate, up until 3 hours, when the rate becomes a full days charge. So in this case, you would be charged for two days. In addition, the charges for optional insurance and surcharges will be applied for either part or full day hires.

Minimum Age:
The minimum age to rent a vehicle with this supplier in New Zealand is 21. A surcharge may apply to renters aged 21-24 years. Age exceptions may occur where they are part of a separate contractual agreement with the supplier.

Drivers Licence Requirements:
All drivers of the vehicle will need to be present and provide a current full valid drivers licence and credit card in their own name. All drivers must Customers travelling on a non-English language licence will be required to carry an accurate English language translation or international Driving Permit (IDP) while driving.

Additional Driver:
Nobody can drive a vehicle whose name does not appear on the Rental Agreement. When collecting the vehicle each driver must be listed on the Rental Agreement and they must present their full current valid drivers licence at time of collection. Additional driver forms can be completed at the time of rental or at any supplier location once the rental has started. There is not an additional charge if there is more than one driver. Minimum rental age for additional drivers will be the same as for the renter.

Payment Terms
A valid credit card must be presented by the credit card holder when collecting the vehicle. When you collect your vehicle a pre-authorisation will be made on your credit card for the estimated value of the rental and any applicable security bond. The card holder will not have access to the funds until billing completion of the rental. Provided the vehicle is returned undamaged and no additional charges apply (e.g. fuel), the pre-authorisation will be cancelled. This supplier accepts many major credit cards as credit identification at the time of rental. Debit cards, however, are not accepted as credit identification at the time of rental. Acceptable credit cards include: American Express, Diners Club, Mastercard, Visa. You can only use a debit card if it has the Mastercard or Visa emblem/logo.

For security purposes the credit card used for payment/authorisation of the rental must be in the renters name and embossed on the front of the card. The renters signature must appear on the back of the card. Full and final payment can be made using the same or an alternate credit card, cash, or a cheque issued by a New Zealand bank.

Most major credit cards including VISA, MasterCard, American Express, and Diners are accepted. You can only use a debit card if it has the MasterCard or Visa emblem / logo. They can be identified by the word 'Debit' printed on the face of the card. Debit cards are usually issued from a bank of other financial institution, and it is these cards that are acceptable to use for rental.  Gift Debit cards e.g. Prezzy Card (and all cards where no customer name is printed on them) are still not accepted.

If you don't have a credit card in your name, this supplier will require a letter of authority from a credit card holder that will honour any costs incurred during your rental.

Airport Concession Recovery Fees.
During the period of these Terms and Conditions, an Airport Concession Recovery Fee of NZ$35.00 plus GST PER HIRE will apply for all hires commencing or terminating at one of this supplier's NZ airport or ferry location. This surcharge is payable directly to the supplier at the time of rental.

Peak Season Surcharge
A surcharge applies to all rentals commencing during the month of February 2009. This is reflected in the rate provided.

Returning Vehicles
Please park your vehicle in the designated car park. Record your final odometer reading and fuel level on your contract. Then return the contract and keys to the counter. If you found a new apparent defect (not listed on the vehicle statement remitted at time of pick up) you will also need to inform the supplier's representative for joint examination.

This supplier provides a Pre-Paid Fuel option at a discounted fuel rate that provides you with the convenience of returning the car as empty as possible. If you do not request Pre-Paid Fuel at the time of picking up the vehicle you will need to return the vehicle full to avoid any refuelling service charges.

Late Return

Extra hours are charged at one third of the daily rate, up until 3 hours, when the rate becomes a full days charge. In addition, the charges for optional insurance and surcharges will be applied for either part or full day hires.

Upgrade/Extension of Rentals:
Voluntary extension of rentals notified to supplier at the time of rental will be charged at local applicable rates.  If you decide to upgrade at the time of rental, the charge will be at local applicable rates.  This service is available for customers who decide at the time of the rental to use the vehicle for a longer period than reserved. Additional hours are charged at 1/3 of the daily rate to a maximum of 3 hours when an additional day will be charged.

After Hours Service
The majority of this supplier's locations have a drop service enabling you to return the vehicle outside operating hours. Please check if this is available at the location you are returning the vehicle to.  Please note that this may incur a 'drop fee' and the vehicle will remain your responsibility until it has been checked by an representative. Please refer to the Rental Terms & Conditions for more information.

Country Locations
Any rentals from Country Locations: Greymouth, Hokitika, Westport, Gisborne and Whakatane are charged an additional fee of $NZ 5 + GST per day with 200 free kilometres per day. Excess kilometres at 0.25c + GST per kilometre.

Insurance Excess
In the case of damage to the vehicle the renter is liable for an insurance excess. The amount of the excess is $3093.75 ($3937.50 for wagons, 4WD's and green vehicles) which can be reduced to $253.15 by paying Optional Excess Reduction Fee.

Continuous Hire Policy:

Groups A to E

Vehicles cannot be picked up in one island and left in another.  When travelling between islands, changeover vehicles are supplied in Wellington (WL4) in the North Island and Picton (PN6) in the South Island.  As well, this supplier will allow this between Rotorua (ROT) and Christchurch (CHC) and vice versa.  The changeover service will be calculated as one continuous hire, providing the next vehicle is picked up within 5 hours.  Minimum 5 days notice is required for the changeover service and a minimum hire period of 3 days in each island applies.  Cross-over dates must be provided to ensure availability of vehicles in both islands. Continuous hires are not available in any other areas of the country.
 
Speciality Vehicles


Groups, P and V s P and V, is five (5) days in each island.  (Normal two island conditions apply).

Please note: If you are travelling between Islands during your hire please ensure that you have given us your dates and times of Ferry Crossings during the vehicle booking process in the box entitled "Please enter any other comments about your rental".  This way the supplier can supply separate vehicles to you on either side of the Cook Strait (Wellington or Picton) at the correct times. If you are travelling one way between islands and do not give us this information your booking will not be able to be processed.

Advance Reservations:
This supplier requires a minimum of two (2) working days advance reservation, either by telephone or by automated system (CRS) or by direct reservation link.  Reservations should refer to car groups only.  Every effort will be made to supply the customer’s choice of vehicle, however we cannot guarantee it.

What happens if I have an accident, break down, or need assistance?
In the event that a customer has an accident e.g. damaging the vehicle in any way, they should call the police (dial 111) and get in contact with the closest branch. Obtain the details of all parties involved in the accident. If a third party is responsible for the accident, the supplier will replace the car. If the car is written off it will not be replaced. Roadside Assistance is available to all customers 24 hours a day so that you are never on your own in an unlikely event of something going wrong with your vehicle.

What does Roadside Service cover?
Inherent vehicle mechanical faults receive free AA Roadside Assistance. Fees apply for all other roadside assistance call outs including: refueling, jump start, tyre related incidents, lost keys and keys locked in the vehicle. Simply call 0800 652 847 and someone will be on their way.

Restrictions:
There are no driving restrictions applicable for remote locations, which would jeopardise insurance claims, as long as the client uses the car within the general terms and conditions of our rental agreement


Dangerous South and North Island Roads
Please note that you are not permitted to drive on the following dangerous roads.  There is no insurance cover for damage to the vehicle driven on these roads, regardless whether you purchased the Excess Reduction Insurance (ER) or not.

 1          TASMAN VALLEY ROAD
This road runs from Mount Cook Village to the Blue Lakes.  It is unsealed and prone to avalanches.  You may drive to Mount Cook Village (The Hermitage) but no further.

 2          SKIPPERS ROAD
A very dangerous, narrow mountain road near Queenstown.  There is a sign at the entrance to this road stating that there is no insurance cover for rental cars.

 3          NINETY MILE BEACH       - NORTHLAND

 4          UNFORMED ROADS
            e.g. – dirt, farm roads. This also includes beaches.

 
24 Hour Emergency Road Services:
This will provide your customer with that feeling of knowing that they are never far from assistance.

Benefits
Child Safety Seats, Ski Racks and Chains available on application at an additional cost per hire and these should be requested at time of booking.

This supplier reserves the right to amend or change any conditions of this contract at any time.

Refund Policy

In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. The renter is responsible for all damage to or theft of the vehicle as described in the rental agreement. For an additional fee, the supplier will reduce the renter’s responsibility through the purchase of excess reduction at the time of rental. Please contact your rental location for additional information.
In some cases, renters may be covered for loss or damage to the rental vehicle by their personal insurance or charge card. Such coverage may contain a deductible or may not be primary. Please check with your insurance company or charge card company before you rent.

Optional Excess Reduction
In New Zealand, optional excess reduction fee reduces the excess in most cases from $3093.75 (3937.50 for wagons, 4WD's and green vehicles) to $253.13. Varies by age of renter, location, type of vehicle and rate. Note: ER does not cover certain loss or damage and cannot be waived in full.
Subject to the supplier's terms and conditions of the rental agreement. Please note: This is to be paid for at the time of the pick up of your vehicle from the supplier.

Travel insurance
We strongly recommend that clients ensure they take out the highest level of travel insurance. In many cases this will cover any losses incurred if you are forced to cancel your booking.
